OCT for beginners
OCT was introduced to the world in 1991 and a few years later the first device came on the market. 30 years later, OCT is as important an instrument in an eye clinic as the slit lamp and has enabled remote assessment of patients like never before. We will go through many images of various (retinal) diseases/conditions to show the potential of this examination method.
About Stamatios
After training as a doctor in Greece, Stamatios moved to Sweden in 2009 and has been working in eye care since then. Since 2016 he works at St. Erik’s Eye Hospital, now as a consultant in medical retina and uveitis with a special interest in Imaging. He has been a course leader in Sweden and a regular lecturer at both Swedish and international congresses.
Myopic communication in everyday clinical practice
Myopia can be communicated evidence-based and effectively, and you can tailor your communication to improve the experience of your patients. The theme of the talk is communication with both children and parents, which is highly relevant to the everyday clinical work of an optometrist.
Purpose of the course
The course aims to give opticians new tools to communicate about myopia and myopia treatment.
Vivianne Gergi is a licensed optician and works as a Myopia Management Specialist at CooperVision. She has previously also run her own shop.
Lovisa Fagerlund is a licensed optician with a master’s degree in clinical optometry. She is the second Swede ever to be awarded a fellowship by BCLA for her achievements in contactology. Lovisa is an ambassador for the International Myopia Institute and part of their author group, and works at CooperVision.
